Peta Sutton

Peta Sutton was admitted as a Solicitor of the ACT Supreme Court in 2017; since then, Peta has worked exclusively across the family law and estates jurisdictions.

Peta holds a Masters of Applied Law (Family Law) from the College of Law and has extensive experience in complex property matters, parenting disputes, consent matters and child support matters. She regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and is skilled at guiding clients through all aspects of family law with a practical and outcomes-focused approach.

In addition to her family law practice, Peta practices in estate planning, estate administration and estate litigation in both the ACT and NSW. Her estate planning work meaningfully intersects with and enhances her family law practice, allowing her to provide comprehensive advice to clients navigating both personal and legal transitions.

Peta is empathetic, pragmatic and client-focused. She takes the time to understand her clients’ needs during what is often a highly emotional and stressful period. She is committed to delivering tailored, realistic and cost-effective advice with a strong emphasis on resolution.

Peta has been a valued member of the Robinson + McGuinness team since 2015.  Hard-working and detail-oriented, Peta prides herself on being organised, thorough and efficient. She has developed enduring relationships with clients throughout her time at R+M, reflecting her commitment to high-quality service and professionalism.

Peta holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canberra and completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with the College of Law.
